Rural Entitlement And Legal Support Center


 Under the Community Health Program 40 villages are covered and benefited nearly 50000 population. At the initiative of the community a dispensary was opened at village T.Ramachandrapuram by the government


 Under the Adult Education Project supported by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, 3500 persons acquired basic literacy skills.


 During 1989 – 1992 with the support of Indo Global Service Society (IGSSS), New Delhi, two Vocational Training Centers on Coir and Bamboo products making was started and it benefited20 women in earning their livelihood. Under the project 8 pump sets, renovation of 3 defunct tanks, construction of 3 check-dams were carried out and it enabled irrigation of 300 acres of land belongs to 120 families in Meliaputti and Nandigammandals


 Total 675 dropout children were provided Non-Formal education through 50 centres and later mainstreamed them into the formal school for their continued education with the support of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India


 With the support of Caritas Netherlands 15 Early Childhood Care and Development centers were started and 600 tribal children were provided pre-school education, nutritional supplements and prepared them for schooling.


 From 1994 – 1998 MEMISA, Netherlands extended support for a comprehensive Community Health project in 20 tribal villages in Meliaputti and Nandigam Mandals. The main component of the program include health education, pre-natal &post natal care, reproductive and child health care, treatment of different diseases, nutrition, immunization etc. Nearly 5200 population of the target area benefited by the program


 The Rural & Tribal Development programs supported by MISEREOR – Germany, in 28 tribal villages of Meliaputti, Tekkali and Mandasa Mandals  has facilitated building local leadership, people’s institutions, natural resource management and in improving the health and  livelihood condition of nearly 940 households


 With the support of District Child Labour Society, Srikakulam, Government of AP, residential bridge course was conducted for 2500 child labours and later they were mainstreamed into government residential school for their continued education.


 The support from CAPART has facilitated in land, soil and water conservation and management, income generation activities and improved health and economic condition of 612 households in 7 tribal villages in Mandasa Mandal.


 The project supported by Manos Unidas – Spain, has facilitated in empowering Samantha community in 20 villages in Mandasa Mandal. REALS highlighted the flight of the Samantha community and made all efforts to include them in Scheduled Tribes list.  However, ultimately the community has been included under Backward Caste – A category.


 Sustainable Tribal Empowerment Project (STEP) was carried out in 157 villages with the support of CARE-INDIA – European Commission. The achievements under the project include formation and strengthening of women SHGs and their empowerment, enhancement of income, food security and livelihood opportunities, natural resource management etc.


 Community Based Disaster Preparedness is funded by SCAIF through CARITAS - India from 2004 to 2010) in 14 villages is helping to develop awareness in the fishermen community.


 Education – 600 (Girls 380 &Boys 220) dropout children have been prepared through bridge course and mainstreamed them into formal schools


 Mutually Aided Co-operative Society of women SHGs was formed with 380 members and savings to the tune of Rs.350,000 and turnover of Rs. 800,000/- in Mandasa Mandal, exclusively for the Tribal communities.
